Uridine Monophosphate Disodium – Powder, 50g
Uridine Monophosphate Disodium is a pyrimidine nucleoside found in the cells of almost all living organisms and is believed to help improve mood and energy levels, enhance memory and learning and promote longevity.
Uridine monophosphate is a primary building block for the synthesis of neurons and synapses formed by decarboxylation of orotidine 5’-monophosphate catalyzed by the enzyme orotidylate decarboxylase. The food sources of uridine include beer, breastmilk, offal (liver and pancreas), barley, baker’s yeast, sugar cane extract, and vegetables. It is characterized as a pyrimidine nucleoside and is found in cells of almost all living organisms including bacteria.

What is Uridine Monophosphate Disodium?
Uridine Monophosphate Disodium is a pyrimidine nucleoside that is found in cells of almost all living organisms including bacteria. It is formed by decarboxylation of orotidine 5’-monophosphate catalyzed by the enzyme orotidylate decarboxylase. It has been used to study the effect of pyrimidine synthesis inhibitor, 5-azacytidine, on cholesterol and lipid metabolism, study the effect of nucleotides on the growth of specific intestinal bacteria and is believed to contain nootropic properties.
Uridine Monophosphate Disodium Benefits and Uses
Studies have shown that Uridine Monophosphate Disodium may have the following benefits:
- Promotes memory function and learning ability
- Supports a positive mood and increased energy levels
- Supports mitochondrial health
- Supports brain against inflammation
- Encourages brain growth
Additional Information on Uridine Monophosphate Disodium
Uridine monophosphate (UMP), also known as 5′-uridylic acid, is a nucleotide that is used as a monomer in RNA. It is an ester of phosphoric acid with the nucleoside uridine. UMP consists of the phosphate group, the pentose sugar ribose, and the nucleobase uracil; hence, it is a ribonucleotide monophosphate. Uridine monophosphate is also a primary building block for the synthesis of neurons and synapses. The food sources of uridine include beer, breastmilk, offal (liver and pancreas), barley, baker’s yeast, sugar cane extract, and vegetables. A study done on 344 rats showed that the levels of neurofilament-70 and neurofilament-M proteins, biomarkers of neurite outgrowth, increased to 182±25% (p<0.05) and 221 ± 34% (p<0.01) of control values, respectively, with UMP consumption and this shows that UMP does not only enhances membrane phosphatide production but also can modulate two membrane-dependent processes, neurotransmitter release and neurite outgrowth, in vivo.
